Florida Farm Bureau Agriculture in
the Classroom
NOTICE TO ALL K-12th GRADE TEACHERS
Does your school budget forbid you from starting a new project?
Here's your chance! There is money available to you for integrating
agriculture in your classroom. All kindergarten through 12th
grade educators are welcome to apply. Florida Farm Bureau Agriculture
in the Classroom (FFB-AITC) is pleased to offer a Mini-Grant
program for educators during the school year. This FFB-AITC grant
is a public/private partnership serving K-12th grade education
with a goal of helping to increase the understanding of agriculture
among students and educators. The program is administered through
the Florida Farm Bureau, Florida's oldest and largest general
farm organization. A total of up to $7,500 may be awarded in
mini-grants throughout the state by Florida Farm Bureau during
the year.
Florida Farm Bureau Young Farmer and
Rancher Program
Florida Farm Bureau's Young Farmers and Ranchers are active members
between the ages of 18 and 35. There are several programs which
recognize the importance of young farmers' and ranchers' contributions.
Each year, active members in that age group have the opportunity
to compete for the title of Outstanding Young Farmer and Rancher
and participate in the state Discussion Meet. In addition, the
Farm Bureau Excellence in Agriculture Award Program is designed
as an opportunity for Young Farmers & Ranchers who do not
derive the majority of their income from an owned agricultural
operation to earn recognition. Participants are judged on their
involvement in agriculture, leadership ability, involvement and
participation in Farm Bureau and other organizations (i.e., civic,
service and community).
Women's Program
The Florida Farm Bureau Women's Program was organized for the
purpose of implementing Farm Bureau policy goals and objectives.
The program uses the unique talents of women to enable Farm
Bureau to be more effective in its organizational, legislative,
educational and promotional efforts. Any woman from a Farm
Bureau family is eligible to participate in local, state and
national activities.
Women's Committee Youth Speech Contest
Each year the Florida Farm Bureau Federation Women's Committee
sponsors a Youth Speech Contest starting at the county level.
The winner of the county contest competes in a district contest;
the district winner then goes to the Florida Farm Bureau Federation
Annual Meeting in October to compete in the state competition
with the other seven district winners.
